Our History
FC Barcelona, commonly known as Barça, was founded on November 29, 1899, by Joan Gamper, a Swiss businessman with a passion for football. He placed an advertisement in a local Barcelona sports magazine, attracting a group of enthusiasts who established the club
In its early years, Barça quickly became a prominent club in Spain. The team secured its first trophy, the Copa Macaya (Catalan championship), in 1902. By 1910, they had won the Copa del Rey, Spain premier national football cup competition.
The 1910s marked a period of growth for the club. In 1910, under Gamper's leadership, Barça changed its official language from Castilian to Catalan, reinforcing its identity as a symbol of Catalan culture. This era also saw the team win multiple titles, including three consecutive Campionats de Catalunya between 1909 and 1911, and three Copa del Rey titles between 1910 and 1913.

In 1922, the club moved to the Les Corts stadium, which initially accommodated 22,000 spectators and was later expanded to 60,000. This move was facilitated by the club growing membership, which exceeded 20,000 by that time.
The 1950s were significant for Barça with the inauguration of Camp Nou in 1957, a stadium with an initial capacity of 93,000 spectators.
Throughout its history, FC Barcelona has been home to numerous legendary players and has achieved significant success, including multiple La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles.
